A garden for the children, a terrace for the parents

Maťko and Kubko are familiar to Slovak children as two young shepherds in stories set beneath the Tatras. Here, their names belong to a house where children have a sandpit, slide, playhouse and swings right outside the windows. Animal lovers can meet the beautiful Samoyeds we breed. Guests have the chance to get to know these friendly, fluffy dogs and take them for a walk in the countryside around Ždiar.

We are happy to provide a cot free of charge. Children under 15 are also exempt from local accommodation tax. Our sheep and heifers graze in meadows around 300 metres from the house, adding to the village atmosphere. You can watch them from the terrace, surrounded by the countryside of Ždiar.

  • playground within sight of the terrace
  • Samoyeds and animals in the nearby meadows
  • two bedrooms and a free cot
  • Strachankovo 5 minutes away, Bachledka 9 minutes away

Why Maťko and Kubko?

Our name brings together a well-loved Slovak tale about two young shepherds and our own family: Maťko and Kubko are also our sons’ names. Sheep, meadows and mountains are part of life in Ždiar, so the name connects a story, our family and our love of this region.

Our emblem features mountains, doves and a shepherd’s pitchfork.
